1. Ask for texture explicitly

feels redundant, but the model defaults to smooth unless told otherwise.
2. Name a real light
Soft window light or Rembrandt lighting produces gentle shadows that reveal
form. Flat, shadowless light flattens skin and reads as fake.
3. Keep makeup minimal
“Natural minimal makeup, no foundation lines” beats “flawless glam” every time for realism.
4. Add grain, not blur
Fine film grain adds the texture of a real photograph. Avoid smooth,
airbrushed, soft focus — those words trigger the waxy look.
5. Specify a focal length
An 85–105mm lens with shallow depth of field is the classic portrait look. It compresses features flatteringly and separates the subject from the background.
